The theoretical framework of this research combines Durkheim, Geertz, and Berger's sociological theories on religious rituals. The research uses a documentary method and content analysis as technique. Inverse questionnaire is used for gathering the data. The research findings showed that modern eulogies have emotional- sentimental thrust, popular (folkloristic), romantic, and derogatory literature, contents with worldly love as a mark of esteem for a religious master and the desired figure, a state of frenzy, excessive religious zeal, professional lighting and voice system, and professional stage management by eulogist. In traditional eulogies more emphasis is put on describing the oppression the Holy Prophet's family suffered. The main features of this type are: formal literature, emotional and moral themes, single style and context. On the whole, these two types of eulogies lack rich content and they sound formalist, emotional, and have the nature of a public show. این پژوهش با هدف مقایسه، شناخت و تحلیل جامعه شناختی مداحی های سنتی و مدرن در یک دهه اخیر از نظر محتوا، ادبیات، سبک اجرا تدوین یافته است. چارچوب  نظری، ترکیبی از نظریه های جامعه شناسی مناسک دینی دورکیم، گیرتز و برگر می باشد. روش تحقیق اسنادی، تکنیک تحلیل محتوا و ابزار گردآوری اطلاعات، پرسش نامه  معکوس است. براساس یافته ها، مداحی های مدرن دارای درون مایه احساسی و عاطفی، ادبیات عامیانه، عاشقانه، تحقیرآمیز و محتوایی با مضمون عشق زمینی و اظهار ارادت به مولا و مراد، سبک شور، هیجان آفرینی بسیار زیاد، سیستم نورپردازی و صوتی حرفه ای و مدیریت صحنه حرفه ای مداح می باشند. در حالی که، مداحان سنتی بیشتر بر توصیف مظلومیت اهل بیت(ع) تأکید دارند و اغلب از ادبیات رسمی، درون مایه احساسی و اخلاقی، سبک واحد و زمینه استفاده می کنند. در مجموع، هر دو نوع مداحی عاری از غنای محتوایی هستند و در مقابل صورت گرا، هیجان آفرین و نمایش محور هستند. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/7_14.pdf
