According to him, the acquaintance with the problems of modern culture has a strong relationship with the acquaintance with rationality, because modern culture is fundamentally based on rationality. Therefore, his views about rationality have been reviewed and his views about the features of modern nationality have been analyzed. According to him, modern culture faced serious problems after the infiltration of instrumental rationality into science, knowledge, semantic system, commitments, and motivation. The most serious of these problems were disenchantment, relativism and being trapped in an iron cage (of rationality). This paper tries to expound the problems and restrictions of modern world form the viewpoint of Max Weber, because he has been well acquainted with these problems. The viewpoints of many of the subsequent critics have roots in Max Weber's views and thoughts. Therefore, it is very necessary to understand his viewpoint on modern and developed world. A qualitative method of text commentary and documentary method have been used in this research. بررسی وضعیت فرهنگ مدرن و معضلات آن از نظر ماکس وبر، از متفکران قرن بیستم، موضوع این پژوهش است. از نظر ماکس وبر، فهم معضلات فرهنگ مدرن با فهم عقلانیت پیوند وثیقی دارد؛ زیرا اساس فرهنگ مدرن بر عقلانیت استوار است. از همین رو، نخست عقلانیت از نظر وبر بررسی و سپس خصوصیات عقلانیت مدرن از نظر او تحلیل شده است. از دیدگاه وبر پس از نفوذ عقلانیت ابزاری در عرصه های دانش و معرفت، نظام معنایی، و تعهدات و انگیزش، معضلاتی در فرهنگ مدرن پدید آمده است. افسون زدایی، نسبیت گرایی، فقدان معنا از زندگی و گرفتار شدن در قفس آهنین، مهم ترین آنها است. هدف این مقاله تبیین معضلات و تنگناهای دنیای جدید از نظر ماکس وبر است؛ چون او به خوبی مشکلات دنیای جدید را فهمیده است. دیدگاه بسیاری از منتقدان بعدی، در آرا و اندیشه های ماکس وبر ریشه دارد. ازاین رو، فهم دیدگاه وی درباره‌ی دنیای جدید و پیشرفته بسیار مهم است. این پژوهش با استفاده از روش کیفی تفسیر متن و نیز روش اسنادی به فرجام رسیده است. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/6_12.pdf
