In this new world, which is referred to as the modern and rational world, this topic has been a matter of dispute among many writers. Some have minimized the role of religion, firmly denied the relationship between religion and the world, and stressed the idea of necessity of separating religion from public arena. Others, though do not openly talk about the isolation of religion, believe that the circumstances of modern world necessitate this isolation. In other words, they consider the decline of the social role or religion and its social isolation as a prerequisite for a modern world, and they name it "secularization". Such a belief is based on some presuppositions which have been analyzed and criticized in this article. بررسی قلمرو دین، و نقش اجتماعی و به ویژه موقعیت فرانهادی اش، از دیرباز در حوزه های مختلف علمی، چون کلام و جامعه شناسی در کانون توجه اندیشوران بوده است. این مقوله در دنیای جدید ـ که دنیای مدرن و عقلانی معرفی شده ـ محور مجادله‌ی بسیاری از نویسندگان قرار گرفته است. برخی قلمرو حداقلی برای دین تعریف کرده و اساساً رابطه‌ی دین و دنیا را منکر شده و اندیشه‌ی ضرورت حذف دین را از ساحت عمومی اعلان کرده اند. شماری نیز بی آنکه آشکارا از منزوی ساختن دین سخن بگویند، بر این باورند که مقتضیات دنیای جدید این انزوا را در پی دارد؛ به عبارتی، افول موقعیت اجتماعی و انزوای اجتماعی دین را از لوازم دنیای جدید می دانند و از آن به «عرفی شدن»، یاد می کنند. این باور مبتنی بر پیش فرض هایی است که در این نوشتار بررسی و نقد می شود. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5_12.pdf
