abstract = {The question of knowledge acquisition and way of achieving true and valid knowledge has long been of special concern to thinkers. The main subjects discussed in epistemology are the nature of knowledge, the domain of knowledge and the sources and methods of acquiring knowledge. Over many centuries, these subjects have been discussed and investigated from different angles. The development of new philosophical and epistemological schools have enormously contributed to this subject and new questions have been raised in methodology and epistemology. Using a comparative method, the present paper tries to study the main important issues in this field from Farabi and Habermas's viewpoints, two thinkers coming from two different cultural and social backgrounds. There are several similarities and differences between the intellectual and scientific system of each of these thinkers. A comparative analysis of their thoughts in epistemology, methodology and the challenges facing this field could be useful and effective.

abstract_fa ={مسئله‌ی شناخت و چگونگی دستیابی به معرفت و دانش صحیح و معتبر موضوعی است که از دیرباز ذهن اندیشوران و فیلسوفان را به خود مشغول داشته است. مسائل عمده ای که در حوزه‌ی معرفت شناسی مطرح بوده عبارت اند از: ماهیت و طبیعت شناخت، قلمرو شناخت، منابع و روش های کسب شناخت. این مسائل در طول قرون مطرح بوده و از زوایای مختلفی در کانون بررسی قرار گرفته است. پیدایش مکاتب فلسفی و معرفت شناختی جدید، ابعاد تازه ای به موضوع بخشیده و مسائل نوی در حوزه‌ی روش شناسی و معرفت شناسی طرح کرده است.
	در این مقاله تلاش شده است که مسائل اصلی و مهم این حوزه از دیدگاه فارابی و هابرماس، دو اندیشه وری که به دو حوزه‌ی فرهنگی و تمدنی مختلف تعلق دارند، به شیوه‌ی مقایسه ای بررسی شود. این دو متفکر به لحاظ نظام فکری و علمی، تفاوت ها و مشابهت های گوناگونی دارند و به نظر می رسد که بررسی مقایسه ای تفکرات آنها در حوزه‌ی معرفت شناسی و روش شناسی و چالش هایی که فراروی این حوزه قرار دارد، مفید و مؤثر واقع شود.},
