To overcome this complexity, culture management needs a comprehensive look at the layers and dimensions of culture. For various reasons, the symbol, as the outermost layer of culture, is usually not given serious attention in culture management studies - especially Islamic studies. Using an "analytical" approach and a documentary review of Islamic teachings and emphasizing the various functions of the symbol, this article tries to explain the importance of the symbol in Islamic culture. Studying religious texts, we realize that, contrary to the initial impression, Islamic symbols have an all-encompassing plurality among teachings. In religious teachings, adherence to symbols is strictly ordered and worshiping symbols is considered a sign of piety. Taking advantage of these teachings, commitment to the symbol can be considered as a demarcation criterion between insider and outsider. Various functions of the symbol (such as specifying the purpose, categorizing, improving understanding and correlation) are among the reasons for this issue. فرهنگ یکی از مهم ترین، پیچیده ترین و پرابهام ترین پدیده های حیات اجتماعی انسان است. به منظور غلبه بر این پیچیدگی، مدیریت فرهنگ نیازمند نگاهی همه جانبه به لایه ها و ابعاد فرهنگ است. نماد به مثابه خارجی ترین لایه فرهنگ، به دلایل گوناگون معمولاً مورد توجه جدی مطالعات مدیریت فرهنگ ـ و به ویژه مطالعات اسلامی ـ قرار نمی گیرد. این مقاله با رویکردی «تحلیلی» و بررسی اسنادی آموزه های اسلامی و با تأکید بر کارکردهای گوناگون نماد، درصدد تبیین جایگاه مهم نماد در فرهنگ اسلامی است. با مطالعه متون دینی متوجه می شویم برخلاف تصور اولیه، نمادهای اسلامی در میان آموزه ها کثرتی فراگیر دارند. در آموزه های دینی بر التزام به نمادها دستور اکید داده شده و تعظیم نماد نشانه تقوا برشمرده شده است. با بهره گیری از این آموزه ها، التزام به نماد می تواند به مثابه یک ملاک مرزبندی بین خودی و غیرخودی قلمداد گردد. یکی از علل این موضوع کارکردهای متنوع نماد (مانند مشخص نمودن هدف، دسته بندی، بهبود درک و همبستگی) است. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/6_41.pdf
