Terry Eagleton, a prominent theorist within the Marxist tradition and cultural criticism, seeks to unveil the ideological dimensions concealed within this concept. From his perspective, culture is not a neutral or autonomous sphere, but one that is reproduced through its entanglement with power relations, social conflicts, and mechanisms of domination. This study adopts an analytical–interpretive method and is organized in three stages: first, a historical and conceptual genealogy of culture in Eagleton’s thought; second, an analysis of the relationship between culture, ideology, and the logic of capitalism; and third, a critical assessment of his theoretical framework. The findings indicate that although Eagleton is successful in criticizing the commodification and globalization of culture, his adherence to historical materialism and his reduction of culture to an ideological phenomenon lead to the neglect of its ethical and spiritual dimensions. While drawing on Eagleton’s critical capacities, the present article emphasizes the necessity of rethinking the relationship between culture, ideology, and meaning in order to overcome the contemporary crisis of meaning. در مباحث نظری معاصر، «فرهنگ» مفهومی ساده و یکدست نیست، بلکه مجموعه‌ای چندلایه، مناقشه‌برانگیز و سیالی از معانی است که از هنر و ادبیات تا عرصه‌های ایدئولوژی و سیاست را دربر می‌گیرد. تری ایگلتون، نظریه‌پرداز شاخص در سنت مارکسیستی و نقد فرهنگی، می‌کوشد نقاب از چهرۀ ایدئولوژیکی این مفهوم بردارد. از منظر او، فرهنگ قلمرویی خنثی و مستقل نیست، بلکه در پیوند با مناسبات قدرت، تضادهای اجتماعی و سازوکارهای سلطه بازتولید می‌شود. این پژوهش با روش تحلیلی ـ تفسیری در سه گام سامان یافته است: تبارشناسی تاریخی و مفهومی فرهنگ در اندیشۀ ایگلتون؛ تحلیل نسبت فرهنگ با ایدئولوژی و منطق سرمایه‌داری؛ و سنجش انتقادی دستگاه نظری وی. یافته‌ها نشان می‌دهد که اگرچه ایگلتون در نقد کالایی‌ شدن و جهانی‌سازی فرهنگ کامیاب است، اما وفاداری او به ماتریالیسم تاریخی و فروکاستن فرهنگ به امر ایدئولوژیک، موجب غفلت از ابعاد اخلاقی و معنوی آن شده است. نوشتار حاضر ضمن بهره‌گیری از ظرفیت‌های انتقادی ایگلتون، بر ضرورت بازاندیشی در نسبت فرهنگ، ایدئولوژی و معنا برای برون‌رفت از بحران معنای معاصر تأکید می‌کند. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5003386-1781503651.pdf
