This transformation goes beyond a mere change in scientific terminology; it constitutes a new formulation of the relationship between the human being and the social world. Relying on a dialectical framework between the existential forms of modern humans and the forms of social knowledge, this article examines the evolution and foundations of the meaning of social science within four fundamental traditions: moral sciences, spiritual sciences, cultural sciences, and positivist social science. The research method is a foundational critical methodology, based on a critical reading of texts pertaining to the nature of social science in modern intellectual traditions. The findings indicate that each of these traditions presents a distinct image of the human being, society, and the possibility of social knowledge. The fundamental implication of this evolution is the crisis of self-understanding in the social sciences concerning meaning, value, and calculability. As a proposal, it seems that the critical reconstruction of the social sciences requires a dialectical re-reading of these four traditions. تحول معنای علم اجتماعی در دوره مدرن از مهم‌ترین دگرگونی‌های معرفتی و وجودی در تاریخ اندیشه غرب به شمار می‌رود. این دگرگونی‌ فراتر از تغییر در اصطلاح علمی، صورت‌بندی تازه‌ای از نسبت انسان با جهان اجتماعی است. این مقاله با اتکا به چارچوبی دیالکتیکی میان صورت‌های وجودی انسان مدرن و صور معرفت اجتماعی، تطور و بنیان‌های معنای علم اجتماعی را در چهار سنت اساسی یعنی علوم اخلاقی، علوم روحی، علوم فرهنگی و علوم اجتماعی پوزیتویستی بررسی می‌کند. روش پژوهش، روش‌شناسی بنیادین انتقادی است و بر خوانش انتقادیِ متون مرتبط با ماهیت علم اجتماعی در سنت‌های فکری مدرن مبتنی است. یافته‌ها نشان می‌دهد که هر یک از این سنت‌ها تصویری متمایز از انسان، جامعه و امکان معرفت اجتماعی ارائه کرده‌اند. دلالت بنیادین این تطور، بحران خودفهمی علوم اجتماعی در نسبت با معنا، ارزش و محاسبه است. در مقام پیشنهاد نیز به نظر می‌رسد که بازسازی انتقادی علوم اجتماعی نیازمند بازخوانی دیالکتیکی این چهار سنت است. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5003286-1785301823.pdf
