In the aftermath of this event, the Islamic world was afflicted by numerous crises and civil strifes. Taha Hussein, a student of Émile Durkheim and a prominent Egyptian modernist thinker, addressed this historical period in his works from a sociological perspective. Employing an analytical method, the present study first explicates the methodological foundations and reconstructs the explanatory dimensions of Hussein’s theory, and then proceeds to a critical examination of its methodological premises. The central question of the research is whether Hussein’s analysis, despite its sociological depth, is capable of providing a comprehensive explanation of this complex historical event. The findings indicate that due to several serious methodological and theoretical deficiencies, this approach fails to offer a complete account of the event. Although Hussein’s analysis is successful in identifying the background conditions and enabling causes, it proves inadequate in explaining the agentive causes and the conscious actions of historical actors on the basis of an Islamic worldview. انقلاب سال ۳۵ هجری که به قتل عثمان‌بن‌عفان منجر شد، یکی از مقاطع پیچیده و تأثیرگذار در تاریخ اسلام به‌شمار می‌رود. جهان اسلام پس از این انقلاب دچار آسیب‌ها و فتنه‌های پرشماری شد. طه حسین، شاگرد دورکیم و اندیشمند نوگرای مصری،‌ در آثار خود با رویکرد جامعه‌شناختی به این مقطع از تاریخ اسلام پرداخته است. در این نوشتار با بهره‌گیری از روش‌ تحلیلی، ضمن بیان مبانی روشی و بازخوانی ابعاد تبیینی نظریۀ طه حسین،‌ به بررسی ـ تحلیلی ـ انتقادی مبانی روش‌شناختی آن پرداخته شده است. پرسش اصلی این پژوهش آن است که آیا تحلیل طه حسین با وجود عمق جامعه‌شناختی، قادر به تبیین کامل این رویداد پیچیدۀ تاریخی بوده است؟ یافته‌های پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که این تحلیل نظری به دلیل برخی کاستی‌های جدی روش‌شناختی و مبنایی نتوانسته تبیین کاملی از این واقعه ارائه دهد. تحلیل طه حسین اگرچه در شناسایی زمینه‌ها و علل فراهم‌آور موفق بوده، اما در تبیین علل فاعلی و کنش‌های آگاهانه بازیگران بر اساس جهان‌‌بینی اسلامی ناتوان است. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5002967-1781503803.pdf
