In these circumstances, when the inspective organizations have faced disruptions, the only choice is to declare a "fire at will" status. In this situation, the young officers of the soft war carry out spontaneous jihadi activities, based on logic, ethics and law, to protect the identity of their country against enemy's invasion. Using the principles of symbolic – semiotic approach, this study seeks to explore the concept of fire at will in the screenplay of Duel (2004). The study of the narrative structure of the film, including the initial, middle and final parts of the movie, suggests that the duel between the characters of the movie creates a dynamic and beautiful structure, harmonizes the narrative components of the work and shows the objective conditions of fire at will against the front of betrayal. It shows the role that revolutionary forces can play in safeguarding the achievements of their country in the blurred conditions of sedition. در شرایط نفوذ نرم دشمن، غفلت متولیان عرصه های گوناگون، از اولویت ها و عدم تمییز میان مسائل اصلی و فرعی، منجر به آسیب های گسترده ای در سطح ملی و فراملی می گردد. در این شرایط، که دستگاه های محاسباتی مسئولان با اختلال مواجهه شده است، تنها راه، اعلانِ وضعیت «آتش به اختیار» است. در این وضعیت، افسران جوان جنگ نرم، با انجام فعالیت های خودجوش، جهادی، همراه با منطق، اخلاق و رعایت قانون، از هویت کشور در مقابل هجمه‌ی دشمن صیانت می کنند. این پژوهش، درصدد است با کاربست اصول نشانه – معناشناسی در بررسی فیلمنامه‌ی دوئل، به واکاوی مفهوم آتش به اختیار بپردازد. بررسی ساختار روایی فیلم، از جمله پاره های ابتدایی، میانی و انتهایی فیلم، بیانگر این است که دوئلِ شکل گرفته میان شخصیت های فیلم، علاوه بر ایجاد پویایی و زیبایی در ساختار و ایجاد هماهنگی میان اجزای روایی اثر، شرایط عینی آتش به اختیار را در مقابل جبهه‌ی خیانت به تصور کشیده است و نشان می دهد که چگونه نیروهای انقلابی در شرایط غبارآلود فتنه، نیز می توانند برای صیانت از دستاوردهای کشور خود حرکت نمایند. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/4_20.pdf
