In the Tobacco and Constitutional movement, guardianship of jurist became pervasive and international. The Islamic Revolution of Iran represents a perfect example of guardianship of jurist whose social foundations were established by former scholars. Having influence in the Mongols' rule and then making the Mongol's ruler convert to Shi'ism, exercising authority, in the Shi'ah governments of Saffavids and having an active role in the community, Shiah scholars were able to introduce to society the idea of guardianship of jurist along with the political guardianship of governors. پذیرش مردمی ولایت فقیه یک روند تاریخی داشته است که بیشترین تلاش برای طرح اجتماعی آن از دوره مغول و همزمان با سقوط خلافت توسط علمای بزرگی همچون شهید اول، خواجه نصیر الدین طوسی، علامه حلی و ... برداشته شد. این عالمان شیعی، ابتدا با نفوذ در حکومت مغول و سپس، با شیعه کردن حاکم مغول، همچنین اعمال ولایت در حکومت های شیعی صفویه و دخالت مستقیم در جامعه، توانستند جامعه را با ولایت فقیه در عرض ولایت سیاست حکام آشنا سازند.این آشنایی آن گاه همگانی شد که در دوره قاجاریه با پیروزی اصولیون، ولایت سیاسی  مذهبی علما در عرض حکومتِ سیاسی شاهان قاجار تأسیس شد. ولایت فقیه در نهضت تنباکو و مشروطه فراگیر و صورت بین المللی به خود گرفت. انقلاب اسلامی نمونه کامل ولایتی بود که علمای سابق پایه های اجتماعی آن را استحکا بخشیده بودند. https://marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/sites/marefatefarhangi.nashriyat.ir/files/article-files/5_10.pdf
